The recent snow and icy conditions mean that potholes are likely to appear on the county's roads. The County Council ask you to let them know if you spot any. You can report a pothole by call the Highways Manager on 08449 80 80 80 or by visiting the County Council website at www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk

Cracks in the road surface fill with water. When this freezes it expands. So now the crack is bigger then the process keeps repeating itself until you have a hole. This in turn gets bigger as vehicles keep going over it and so it starts to break up.So if a road is in bad condition before icy weather then it will rapidly get worse. I bad example is the road out of Ruddington to Wilford, it's like an assault course.

Success! I emailed about a week ago to report some rather large pothholes that had appeared near the Leisure Centre along Woodview. I had a polite email thanking me for this and the holes have been since filled in.
