As there have been some enquiries about this funding, I thought it might be helpful to set out how and why Rushcliffe Borough Council administered the SRB programme, which totalled £2.3m overall. The target area were the two wards of Manor and Ash Lea. The intention was to address the social and economic problems caused by the closure of the pit in 1993 with final redundancies of 450. Over 635,000 was used on training and education projects. 753,000 was allocated to the servicing of the pit site, country park and scout camp, canal restoration and canal dredging. 125,000 went on Housing improvements such as parking spaces along Ring Leas, fencing projects and home efficiency 421,000 went to youth work, community support fund, CCTV,and community development work. 250,000 was contributed to the cost of building Cotgrave Futures. 115,000 was spent on the actual management and administration of the funding by Rushcliffe Borough Council
