Rushcliffe Borough Council's dog fouling campaign entitled "This Stinks!" will begin in and around Cotgrave and other targeted areas of the borough on the 19th July. Posters will be displayed and you may see the campaigns images on the sides of some buses that service the village. Everyone is being asked to come forward with information about those who don't do the decent thing and clear up after their dog so that the Council's Dog Warden's can target enforcement action against thos responsible for the problem. The Borough Council feel that it is a small minority of people who don't clear up after their dogs but that nonetheless they can cause a significant problem in some specific areas. The Council will continue to clean up dog fouling and any information on potential offenders or requestes for cleaning can be made by either ringing 0115 9819911 or visiting the Council's website and using the 'report a problem' facility. Warnings will no longer be issued during the campaign with a zero tolerance aapproach to enforcement being adopted.

The grassy area on Lawrence Close outside the newer flats and next to the Church would be a good place to start. In fact if you go on google street view you can clearly see a dog fouling on this piece of grass while its owner looks on.

I am a dog owner myself, but people like that disgust me.

When are you going to do a campaign to stop people dropping litter everywhere, please? I've just commented it to another resident who was complaining about dog fouling. Whilst I agree that allowing a dog to foul the streets is inexcusable, at least it rots. Cans, bottles, bags of crisps and sweets do not, and it is dog walkers like me that are collecting them all from the woods and fields and bringing them home to put in their own bins. I did request the bin on the Dial, and my friend (another dog owner) requested the dog bin there as well, so there's no excuse up round The Dial, or on any of the main streets, for people not to bin their own litter. I usually have to pick up a load when I take my dogs for their last walk at night, as well, and put it in the street bins provided for such litter. Drinking alcohol on the streets of Cotgrave was banned a couple of years ago, by the way, so I don't know why I'm still picking up cans and bottles from the roadside. Maybe they've lifted the ban? Anyway - I look forward to someone introducing a campaign along the lines of 'It Stinks', because I would very much enjoy training a spy camera on a few of the litterbugs who obviously live in our village, and who couldn't care less about keeping it clean.... however much they might like to jump on the bandwagon and condemn every dog owner in the village!
